Good for Enterprise iOS v1.9.10 crash bug

Good Technology would like to inform you that Good for Enterprise – iOS v1.9.10 that was released earlier today was recently pulled from the App Store due to a crash issue.  It seems that only a portion of the users who downloaded the application today were affected.   

MSC Input:  At the time of posting we can confirm that no version of Good is available in the App Store.

Symptom

After upgrading to Good for Enterprise - iOS v1.9.10, affected users can see the badge notifications, however when launching the application it immediately returns back to the home screen, not allowing access.

Cause

Despite extensive testing, we have been unable to reproduce this issue using the internal build that was submitted to the AppStore. Engineering continues to work internally and with Apple to investigate the root cause of the issue. A workaround for affected users has been identified below. 

Remedy/Work-Around

For those users that downloaded the application update and are affected by this issue, there is a workaround. This procedure will require the user to re-provision Good, and requires that the user have their provisioning PIN available or contact their IT Admin to Regenerate Pin from the Good Management Console (GMC). 

  1. Launch the AppStore application on the iOS device.
  2. If on an iPhone, select the “Updates” tab and then the “Purchased” item at the top of the window. If on an iPad, select the “Purchased” tab.
  3. Find the Good for Enterprise application within the purchased items, and click the cloud icon to download it to the device. a. If the Good for Enterprise application already shows the application as Installed, then the user must delete the application from the device first, and then repeat steps 1 through 3.
  4. After the Good for Enterprise application is downloaded to the device, launch it and follow instructions to provision the device.

MSC Input:  This may or may not work due to no version of Good currenly being available on the app store.  We are testing right now.

Resolution

Good Technology has blocked further downloads of the new client version from the AppStore to avoid the potential of additional users experiencing the issue; New and existing users are not able to download the software. ETA to restore the application on the AppStore is unknown at this time. We will update you as this situation changes.
