What is mobility?
Mobility solutions provide organisations across all industries with the necessary means for enhancing productivity, reducing mobile professional’s administration and lowering the operational costs associated with field-based mobile professionals. This is achieved by providing mobile professionals with the necessary tools and functionality, in the form of mobile business applications running on BlackBerry devices. This enhances the business process of these mobile professionals as they are empowered to both capture field data more accurately and efficiently, as well as provided with the means to communicate with back-office information systems whilst in the field.

Why do I need mobility?
Mobility solutions enable field-based workers to perform business processes whilst in the field. By reducing or even removing the need to return to the office to perform office administration tasks, or to obtain information from back-office systems, field workers are able to perform their tasks more efficiently and more accurately as they have been empowered by mobility solutions that both align with and enhance their business processes.

What is BlackBerry?
The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services. It was developed by Research In Motion (RIM) and delivers information over the wireless data networks of mobile phone service companies. BlackBerry made headway in the marketplace by first concentrating on e-mail.

The BlackBerry is primarily known for its ability to send and receive e-mail wherever it can access an appropriate wireless network of certain cellular phone carriers. It has a built-in keyboard, optimized for "thumbing", the use of only the thumbs to type. System navigation is primarily accomplished by the trackwheel (or "thumbwheel"), a scrolling wheel with a "click" function, located on the right side of the device. BlackBerry devices still depend on mobile phone service coverage and are not Wi-Fi compatible unlike similar handheld devices that are on the marketplace.

The devices are very popular with some businesses, where they are primarily used to provide e-mail access to roaming employees. To fully integrate the BlackBerry into a company's systems, the installation of BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) is required.
